The wooden church of Beznea

The almost 200 years old wooden church of Beznea is a masterpiece of folk art from around these places. Take a close look at the oak beams and you’ll get a glimpse of how the forests were back in the days. In the two centuries since then, the wood has become hard as stone. The slender and sharp steeple of the church stands for the passing of time. If you go in, the painting urges you to meditate. Beyond their seeming “naivety”, the eternal simplicity of men who live in the mountains is also portrayed. Although, the wooden churches of Bihor are not as spectacular as those in the northwest of the country, they represent an overwhelming heritage that must be discovered and appreciated. You may feel the power of God in the western cathedrals, but a wooden church will make you feel His comfort.
